Throttle body spacer help...

I have a 1998 3.4L 4x4. Wondering if anyone has had any trouble installing the Air Raid TBS for this model. Air raid supplies 4 longer throttle body mounting bolts, but on the tacoma only 2 of the stock 4 bolts can be removed (as far as I can see). The upper 2 bolts are the 2 I can't remove. Has anyone had this same problem???

At the very least, put it on a desk at home; they make great cupholders...

Fuel is injected directly in the cylinder meaning air and fuel don't meet til that point meaning a TBS is useless to our motors as with most modern engines.

It's useless and has been proven many times to do nothing except lighten your wallet.

Yeah, they are pretty useless on most fuel injected vehicles that have multi-port injection. If you have a vehicle with a throttle body injection such as many GM trucks had from mid 80's to mid 90's, THEN you will notice a substantial improvement. Because of the success of these units, people assumed they would help out a lot on their newer rides, but this is not the case, as the fuel is mixed AFTER the spacer on the multiport injected engines. On TBI engines, the mixing occurs BEFORE the spacer, hence the reason for the spacer- to allow better atomization and mixing of the air and fuel before it reaches your cylinders. At least that is my understanding of it. I thought I would speak up and tell you WHY it isn't a great choice for performance gain.

Yeup, you're right. And if the OP would have searched, he would have found that a few of us have explained the why before.

yeah, i had that problem, but the bigger problem was that i didn't check here first, and then took it off a day later anyway, if you are still interested in getting it on, then just grab the bolts with vise-grips, that got mine off, and didn't damage them when i used them to reinstall stock. If you do just return it (hopefully) you can at least clean the inside of your TB and surrounding areas
