I'm having some trouble, getting the brushguard off my 1995 4runner. I need to take it off, its the stock one. I don't know many tricks to get bolts off, but i tried a wrench and put a pipe on it to get leverage, but it would not budge. Is there something I can spray on it to help? Also would an impact wrench take it off, i don't have one and would rather not buy one right now but would it take off anything?

 

Pb blaster works really good i hear. Possibly heat and/or a breaker bar with a bfh?

 

Angle Grinder? no some type of breaker bar, and a penetrating fluid, and possibly a torch to heat the bolt up. An impact wrench could work, but they are hard to get into tight spaces. Electrical or and compressed air impact gun would run you for alot of money.

 

pb blaster or liquid wrench. Hit it a few times and then giver with your long breaker bar.

 

on mine, we used pb blaster, which helped, but try heating up the bolts

 

I'd try heating it up then spraying deep-creep (seafoam product) on it, it'll acutally suck it in, I have gotten more bolts than I can count off this way.

I stand by that liquid wrench stuff, it works better than PB blaster for me.

 

Why heat up and expand metal to get it out, don't you want to shrink the bolt and heat the surrounding area?

 

well if the bolt is rusted in expanding and contracting the metal will break the rust. Also if you use a lubricant on it (like deep-creep) the heat will draw it in. You can also use a crayon in a similar manner.
