Stereo Help

Alright ive got a sony head unit and it's powerful but it doesnt deliver real clear sound overall. What i'm really looking for is a head unit that will deliver crystal clear sound. If any of you have ever experienced a Klipsch sound system.. yeah something like that so, does anyone have a reccomendation for a good HU? I dont give a crap about features or fancy stuff i just want a good, crisp quality HU.
Thanks guys

How many and what size speakers are you pushing? AMP and Speakers will make the difference. The Sony head unit is pretty good. Is it and XPLODE model?

I have an older alpine unit (CDA-9827) I have MB Quart 6" speakers up front with separate 2" tweeters. My amp is an Alpine PDX-4.100 100 watts. I also have Sirius Satellite radio. I listen to mostly classical music so I am not interested in so much base. My system with the MB Quart set up is primarily for clarity. This combination works very well for my needs (absolute crystal clear sound!) I have had this set up for the past 4 years and I have not had one problem!

You can have the nicest speakers or subs on the market, but they wont be worth crap with a low end HU. Sure nicer speakers, nicer amp, bigger better sub will help, but i want crisp sound which starts at the HU. I generally dont like the mainstream companies, i want real crisp, nice components and it looks like it may be Nakamichi. And although i'm pretty knowledgable in the audio department that doesnt mean i dont have stuff to learn still. I'm just tired of all these mainstream companies that arent that great, looking for someone with info on a better company.

Im pushing 2 8" MTX low/mids, 2 MTX tweeters, 1 12" JBL sub, 2 Kenwood tweeters, and 2 Kenwood mids. I'm planning on loosing the MTX components and replacing them with Mcintosh though. I ran a $400 Eclipse HU for a while and it sounded quite a bit better than the sony but it broken'd it so now i'm looking for something better. And yes the sony is a base Xplod model i dont like it. Oh yeah and the amp is a sony 1100w.

hmm that sounds pretty nice too.. im not looking for overbearing bass either, i have a very capable system as far as bass but i only use it to a fraction of its ability. wanna keep everything balanced ya know?
I will consider the Alpine lines cause i'm not made of money!

If you are for sure it's your head unit you might want to consider Alpine, Panasonic, Pioneer Premier or Clarion.

Hey Alex, I had the same headunit (sony) that you did, and it was kinda cruddy sounding sometimes, I went to a Pioneer, that I got at Target for 99$ that has an Aux in, cd, radio and what not, and its green and white so it matches the factory gauge cluster lighting which is cool, or you can step up to the one above it thats 140$ that lets you control your IPOD from the headunit, since I dont have an ipod brand I just got the 100$ one, works FANTASTIC its 50x4 and the sound quality is so much better then the sony its nuts.. I run two Alpine 4" rounds in my dash, and two pioneer 6x9's off of it, anything Pioneer or Alpine is good in my book. I used to have some sony xplod 6x9's but I blew one out and they were always kinda thud-ish or bassy sounding, the pioneers I Got are real punchy and bassy, nice and clear. Walmart has this headunit also.. Heres a linky.. http://www.google.com/products/catal...769#ps-sellers
