Solution to locking keys in your truck
#24
I have a spare key in a plastic bag in one of those magnet holders in a good spot on the frame. Its good insurance. Used it once so far. I went boating and left my keys in my coworkers Tundra where we put in upriver. We were floating downstream to my truck. I'm so glad I had that key.

That's a really good idea.

I know I said I hide a key on the frame somewhere with a magnet holder, but it would be very hard to find, even if it was up on a rack-and I told them it was there. I have a hard enough time finding it myself, and I know where I put it.

Yeah, its on there pretty darn good.
It may come off if it was under something hanging down perhaps, but sitting on top of something, I don't think it will come off. If I ever do manage to jar mine loose, I am going to have other problems to worry about than just losing my spare key.

this happened to me today after work, my coworker used to be a locksmith, we wedged the corner barely enough to get the coat hanger thru, and made a nubbin on the end reached down and was able to pull the latch

It could have somthing to do with my alarm system. But if my keys are in my ignition and the truck is not running the drivers door will not stay locked. Turn off the truck, leave the keys in the ignition, get out and lock the door and close it the lock will pop right back up. I have tried every thing, as long as the keys are in the ignition its impossible.

Mine came from the factory with them, but were replaced somewhere down the line with the other doors.
