Woohoo! I got mine today and must say it was much better than i expected. Its packed with articals, stories, pics, and lots of other good stuff! It was pretty cool seeing a Yotatech members rig too.

For those of you that have'nt subscibed already: You must subscribe by Monday, September 12, to receive the premiere issue!

maybe next month i will be looking for it in the 7-11, will it show up there?
Far as i know, it wont be in stores for at least 6-12 months (maybe longer). Just order online and have it shipped to your door!

They are on a quick path to becoming another "high end" modification magazine that is irrelevant to 90% of the folks who wheel IMO
Do ya have to be so negative?

"The goal of 4WD Toyota Owner is to bring a fresh, new, independent attitude to the 4WD Toyota community. It is a magazine that welcomes contributors of ALL styles, talents, and fields. We welcome new writers, photographers, and yes, perspectives!"

I think the above comment from the magazine was very accurate in the first issue and believe it will continue.

Just some FYI: I got a free subscription for helping promote the mag and for posting this thread. I was recently told by the publisher that the magazine has something in store for Yotatech. I know what it is but was asked not to tell. Sorry, but i'll leave it at that and just say everyone should subscribe, especially YT moderators.

What about all us lowly guys who have subscribed due to the advertising thru Yota Tech can we get a little trinket? Maybe a keychain for the pioneers who signed up blindly in good faith.

we are where the money is, it would bewhove them to start designing those cool keychains!!

Am I glad there is now an all Toyota magazine? YES YES YES. I am very glad.

Am I a bit disappointed in the effort? Yep.

Do I hope it gets better? Yep.

Do they have my support/subscription? Yep.

Will I eat crow if they get better? Sure will. The whole time I'm reading the average joe articles and NOT $6,000 SAS axle swaps on $30,000 trucks.

Now where is my coffee?

So who peed in your Wheaties? hahahah I thought it was a worthy effort. Obviously it's going to take some time to find it's footing, but I think it's off to a good start.

Personally, having taken a year old, virtually new Tacoma and done an axle swap on it, albeit not with a $6k axle, I am looking forward to the rest of that story. Knowing Demello as I do, I am certain that the ends will justify the means.

Have you mailed your feedback to the publisher or editor themselves? Or are you just bitching in their general direction to add to the noise level on the forum?

I edited my comments. I am happy the magazine is here, just hoping for more down to earth stuff instead of the high dollar stuff you can only dream of. I think it was that big ugly Fire Red Tacoma I saw on one of the promo covers that has caused all this! Is that better dear?

Yes, I have the magazine sitting on my desk w/ the feedback email highlighted.

hahhahaha Don't EVER call me "dear" again... deal? hahahahh

I wasn't looking for you to edit your post. I was just disagreeing with you. I too find it a little rough around the edges, but I am willing to write that off as the cost of getting started. I am betting it becomes more refined as time goes on.

I didn't really feel that it contained a lot of "high dollar stuff (I) can only dream of". From clutch replacement, to a headliner install, it seemed pretty down to earth. The most high end stuff was the Demello swap and BajaTaco's rig, neither of which is some outlandish monstrocity with 40 chromed shocks like you see in the more established mags. From my perspective, there wasn't anything unatainable in the mag. Lot's worth dreaming about, but nothing out of the question...

I think they could add a "Fab Corner" section with more tech tips and tricks as well nitty-gritty maintanance and rig enhancements and that might serve to balance out some of the bling that was apparent in this issue.

Just got my copy in the mail.

Haven't read any articles yet, but just flipping through the pages I only noticed 4 (tiny) pics of 3rd gens. Guess they aren't burly enough for the magazine. =\

Most of it was old landcruisers and heavily modified pickups/tacos...

Still nice to see all yotas tho

I have seen some great shots of your ride in action (and others you wheel with). Have you thought about sending in some photos and a small writeup??
That is the type of stuff I would like to see added to a magazine. Perhaps a section entitled, "Trip Stories" or "Real wheelin'." Some of the places you guys have access to on a daily basis blows my mind, time to share outside of YT

Just passing on the news from today....

"The big news, of course, is that the premiere issue of 4WD Toyota Owner
has shipped to subscribers! It left the shipper's in Idaho on Friday,
September 2nd. We know it is in WA, OR, CA, CO, even Texas and Utah and
Canada, but it's slow in other places. Be patient; it is definitely on
its way! The shipper told us it would be four to fourteen business days
for delivery."

"To get the premiere issue as part of your subscription, subscribe by
this Monday, September 12! After Monday you'll have to purchase the
premiere issue separately--and why miss the killer TTORA Takeover coverage,
insane rock crawling Tin Bender's action, the superlative air
compressor buyers guide, the pull-out centerfold of the jumping 1982 pickup,
Cruise Moab, Toyotas in Baja, the Demello Offroad SAS on their 2005 TRD
Tacoma, and much more!"

"SUBSCRIBE TODAY at http://www.4wdtoyotaowner.com via PayPal or US
subscribers can send a $19.95 check or money order to 4WD Toyota Owner,
#102, 8750 Mary Ave NW, Seattle WA 98117! We'll get the premiere issue out
to you right away!"

"Reaction to the first issue has been great! We really appreciate the
many positive emails. An all-Toyota magazine like this has been a long
time coming, and it's only going to get better and bigger!"

"Thanks for all your feedback--it all helps make us better."

"THANK YOU to everyone who has subscribed! Don't forget--subscribe by
this Monday to get the premiere issue included! Thank you!"

No, but you of all people should subscribe! This magazine is covering every Toyota from 1975 to 2005
Seriously though, the first issue is a milestone and should be owned by ALL off roading Toyota owners wether you have 4WD or not.
And just for good measure, If your disapointed with the mag, i will personally send you $20.00 back on my own free will.

Monday, September 12 is the deadline to get the first issue with a full year subscirption. Whats $20.00? Help support a magazine that is long overdue and when it comes to your door, you can enjoy the reading, buyer's guides, pictures, stories, reviews, how-to's, articals....

--Your Yotas: The 4WD Toyotas that you own, build, and drive, with owner commentary.
-Tech articles written by experts in their fields.
--In-depth trail and trip reports.
--Global Reporters from around the planet
--Factory vehicle tests direct from Toyota HQ
--Product reviews of the parts and gear you want to see
--Q&A section on EACH type of Toyota. If you have a Tacoma question, a Tacoma expert answers it. Same for Land Cruisers, 4Runners, Tundras, minis, etc.
--History photo section on all major types and years of Toyotas, with their historical value, parts availability, engine configs, and a brief bio.
--Rock crawling and extreme action events, plus race (SCORE, etc) coverage. Includes a full bonus issue each year of ONLY this type of action!
--Project Toyotas. We build up insanely cool Project rigs. Several will be 4WD Toyota Owner magazine readers!
--Install guides from a real owner's perspective--in a garage with the usual tools, not a $500,000 shop
--Jamboree and festival coverage from around the nation. Coming up: Rubithon, Tin Benders, Toyota Takeover, Cruise Moab, GSMTR, and more!
--Buyer's guides. Coming up: armor, locking diffs, air compressors, more!
--Contests and giveaways. Free gear? Free parts? What's not to love?!
--Timely delivery to your door. No waiting or wondering.
--And still more!

All that in short: We are part of the magazine!
