SMT6 or SS FTC? Would like your input, please

Hey all,
Within the next few months, I'd like to pickup one of these handy little magic boxes. I've sifted through almost all the threads about both the Perfect Power SMT6 and the Split Second FTC. From what I can tell, the main difference seems to be price and ease of installation. The SMT6 is $100 less than the FTC, but the FTC appears to be easier to install. However, with the debacle midiwall experienced over his ESC1, I'm a bit leary of the Split Second product. And it appears the biggest complaint about the SMT6 would be the installation and virtually limitless tuning capability that seems to cause some confusion.

So, I'd like to gather all your opinions and input on both of these before I shell out the dough.

Thanks!

I have the SplitSecond FTC1-E, with built-in oxygen sensor conditioner (I prefer to think of it as a simulator though), and it has worked perfectly for me. The pressure at which it bypasses the O2 sensor's signal is programmable, which is much better than having one that comes on at 1 psi no matter what. I have mine set at like 4psi right now, because I'm too lazy to tune the fuel map perfectly. I will be setting the kick in at about 2 psi, and then tuning the fuel map to get a little better low end torque (I do have wideband O2 and 318cc fuel injectors though). URD's installation instructions are also perfect for an easy installation. It ain't cheap though, like $550.

SMT6 hands-down. There's no comparison. You can do SOOOOOOO much more with it versus the FTC1.

There's an extra tuning table that you can use to drive anything you want... injector, meth mister, underbody lighting ; there's an output that you can program to trigger from most any event you can think of; there are two complete sets of tuning tables that you can switch between with an external switch or input...

There's a thread around here where Weasy2k listed out a bunch more stuff.

The install is really the same for both boxes. They both have to sit in-between the TPS or MAF and the ECU, tap into timing, etc. When you're sitting looking at the wiring, there won't be any difference between cutting/tapping one wire or 3 or 5...

Highly recommended.

and, fwiw, it's not just me having issues with the ESC1. I mention it in that thread, but a number of folks have found that thing to be a waste of time and money. I just found another person this past Sunday.
