Model and Year: 94' Pickup 22RE
PCV or Brake Booster Line for Intake: PCV
Amount of Seafoam Used: 1 Can
Location(s)- Intake, Crankcase, or Gas tank: All of them
Amount of time it sat before restart: Overnight
Duration and desciption of smoke: Heavy smoke for a minute or two, less smoke for abouts 10 minutes
Following Gas mileage experience: Very little if any improvement
Other relevant notes: Smoother idle, but little additional power...Probably won't being doing this again through the intake for fear of hydrolocking

I don't believe hydrolock is a relevant fear, if it were I'd have done it by now....

I tried dumping 1/2 a can of Seafoam in my '99 F-150. All it did was make my CEL come on for a couple days. It did nothing to make my truck run better or get better milage. Waste of time and money, IMO.

If it doesn't need it, it won't do any good.

Plus you could have made the CEL go away by resetting it....

Are you sure you knew what you were doing? Its not fair to judge a product when it isn't needed. Its like washing your car and then doing it again and being mad the the second time it didn't look better.... It was already clean

might not be the case for you, but could be an option

"For a couple of days", so it went out by itself? Did you get the code pulled to see what it was? It may not have been related to the SeaFoam.

Guys, it's not really a big deal to run Seafoam through the motor if you ran it through the gastank first (I like to run 1 can per 1/4 tank of gas) to reduce the amount of carbon buildup that flows downstream in the exhaust. I have now even tried concentrations as high as 3 cans in 1/2 tank of gas with little affect on gas mileage.

Think of the analogy of a dam holding back a lake (water = carbon deposits) with a town below it (town = converter & O2 sensors). If you punch some small holes in the dam at the base, eventually you'll drain the lake and all the water can flow down to the town harmlessly.....and soon enough there will be no more water, but even if you let the majority of it drain and then break the dam, there's alot less water coming down to damage the town. Similarly if you just broke the dam with a full lake behind it, say goodbye to the town. The punching holes in the dam is akin to running Seafoam in the gastank and breaking the dam is akin to pouring it straight into the motor. Hopefully this helps people visualize why I recommend doing it this way vs just running it straight in the motor right away. It is a bit more expensive this way, but it's the best way to ensure you won't damage the cat and O2 sensor while still enjoying the benefits of a clean FI system & combustion chamber. Now, it is possible that some people's engines are already free of deposits and might only see a very tiny improvement if any, but without a borescope to actually look inside the cylinders, that would be very tough to verify.

Okay, last nite- one can in the tank.
Just now, 1/2 can thru the brake booster. Smoked like hell while it was going in. Took a long time to crank over after it sat for 10 minutes, but while it was cranking small puffs of smoke came out the tailpipe.

When it did eventually crank over, it was smokey but wasn't like the vids I've seen.

I'll be pulling my spark plugs, and cleaning my throttle body this afternoon so we'll see what else I can turn up.

This is, BTW, the first time I've run it thru the intake. Usually I dump a can in every 2000 miles or so thru the tank.

Model and Year? 1995 4Runner 4x4 3.0

PCV or Brake Booster Line for Intake? PCV

Amount of Seafoam Used: mmm, so far about three cans

Location(s)- Intake, Crankcase, or Gas tank: All three

Amount of time it sat before restart: After intake treatment it sat about three hours

Duration and desciption of smoke: Just a couple of minutes & it was heavy gray/white smoke.

It's hard for me to say what it did or has ever done. I started using it in my 87 mustang gt a few years ago & it smoothed out the idle very well back then, so now I use it about once a year to keep everything clean in all my vehicles.

FYI-- Averaged 16.8 MPG after Seafoam, with a healthy dose of both HWY and city driving. Prior was @12 MPG with the same type. Not bad. Next up, fuel filter and O2 sensor swap.
