I just put a bottle in my truck. I got the plume of smoke - not sure if it made any difference because I changed the spark plugs right after. I think people like clean engines and they want to be able to do something easy that improves the engine, like they are doing something pro-active.

Been using Lucas

Hey guys, Been using Lucas to help my 95 4runner 3.0 6 cyl. Had a bearing spin night before i was to leave for Maine on vacation last year in september,so i found a place that would pull it out and put another engine in that runs.Well four engines later till i was close to satisfied they managed to find one that ran, well after i got it back the heater in the back{inside the centerconsole} didnt push any hot air,and the heater on he dash worked crappy too, four back flushes later and three motor flushes the heat works so well it might just singe the hair off your arm.I had to get the heads done too becuase the engine had a valve leakdown.so a water pump and new timing belt as well as new felpro head gaskets and valve cover gaskets and both heads redone .The 4Runner still wouldn't start like it did before the bearing spun.So i ran two big bottles of Lucas over a bout six tanks of gas ,now she fires up good
i was wondering what the deal is with this, i know the lucas works but id really like to try this seafoam .By the way i had 192,000 miles when bearing spun and i bought it with 122,000 flushed engine with envirotek religiously every three thousand when i had oil changed as well as flushed the trans till the fluid was clear and also flushed the radiator and motor once a year.

I have a 2003 4Runner and like that generation model, but i love my 95 rides higher also ran great before the spun bearing and now runs almost what it did before.in 4wheel drive it runs great.I want to keep this one going hopefully till it hits the 1 mill mark. any way fill me in on seafoam
Thanks
Rik wallace

I think that is what he's talking about. I could see an oil-viscosity-increaser helping a bit with a bad bearing. Seafoam, he'll find by searching, will not do squat. The lucas will only be temporary, too.

But he talks about running 2 big bottles of "Lucas" with 6 tanks of gas, which leads me to beleive its some sort of fuel treatment?

And he said he put a new engine in after the spun bearing

Adam,83 sorry for the misunderstanding

I was just wondering if seafoam works is all, i had a motor spin a bearing and had it replaced with a used engine had to have head job done and also had trouble getting heat thru my heater so i had to backflush the heater four times and then flush the block and radiator three times till all the antifreeze was clean and man do i have heat now,i went thru 4 other engines from the yard till i found a engine that would start/or run.and the engine is running good so far but as before the bearing spun on my original engine,i'd like to try and get the engine as clean on the inside as the outside is currently is. i really take care of my engine and change oil regular 3000 mile intervals as well as flush radiator once a year and replace old thermostat with new one.i flush all fluids yearly and replace all fluids with new .i just wanted to know if seafoam works to keep engine running in top order,
and yes i use the Lucas fuel additive and swear by it,it has gotten rid of rough starting as well as smoothed out the idle a bit,
Happy Trails
Rick

Yeah sorry sometimes on a longer post I just skim...so it looked like he was saying the lucas helped the engine with the spun bearing in it.

Well like Adam F mentioned, there are a ton of threads on Seafoam. Search. It depends on who you talk to.

83,
my bearing spun first, then i had to wait five months and four engines after to find a decent 3.0 that would run or even turn over, then when i did get one in that ran it ran less than desirable with a compression test i found that i had a valve leakdown on #3 so the heads came off everything got checked out .heads got machined reseated valves guides ect.then felpro headgaskets ,heads back on ,felpro intake gasket intake back on ,new thermo stat ,then i didnt have any heat in the centerconsole{heat for the backseat area}and also no heat from the dash, checked the fluid anwell the idiots that put the engine seemed to just drain fluid multiple times an just pour it back in,well i back flushed the system four times before the was a loud pop and all this black sludge came out ,did another backflush and the fluid was cleaner, dumped more fresh rad fluid in an that was clean as new this was only the center console,so i backflushed the ehater core four times on the fifth try another loud pop ann black crap, flushed one more time and walla all clean .... alll good. now the heater hets so hot that it feels like it will singe the hairs of your arm if your too close to the vent.after all this the engine would really have hard time to get started, battery was new and charge check was as it should be,i wanted to the guy who did the head job to replace all my injectors but he just put the old ones back in,i tried lucas fuel additive {after 2 big botttles} and six -seven tanks later shesh starts like a new 4runner. all i can say is that i was skeptical of lucas not anymore. and my 3.0 runs just like it should,But if it goes im seriously thinking 4.0 swap to hell with the 3.4 go all the way.
