Where to heck do you get dry ice?
I used to have access to it, but I didn't know about this trick back then.

most praxair and airgas welding and gas supply stores carry it. Because it is solid form of c02. I have got it from praxair numerous times but mostly for use with 2 liter pop bottles not for dents if you know what i am talking about .

You know, if this was real, body shops would not exist. Why doesn't everyone just fix all their dents at home!! What a load of junk lol.

one of my instructors was telling me about something like this, except he said you get it hot then put dry ice on the dent, for things like minor hail damage and things like that

I wonder if liquid nitrogen would work better. Dry ice has a surface temp of around -109 deg Fahrenheit and liquid nitrogen becomes a gas at around -346 degrees Fahrenheit. Also I wonder if warming up the skin would help. This will be fun to try. Hopefully the paint/primer doesn't contract so much that it pops off the steel. Hmmm maybe I should try this on a car of someone I don't like first. lol

I found these on google:

http://pa.essortment.com/howtofixbody_rjmc.htm

http://www.gadgetjq.com/dentremoval.htm

All I can really find, though, are people saying it could work or should work or might work. I want to find somebody who says "I tried this on my dent, and it worked."

The fact is, dry ice will cause metal to shrink. So it makes sense that this may very well work, at least some of the time.

Most Safeway's and King Soopers sell dry ice. I believe it's only like a couple bucks per pound.

I have rarely gotten a dent with out it ruining the paint in one form or another. I hear the insurance companies are really pushing for paintless dent repair as it is more cost effective (body shop + rental + others).

I would assume that, if it did infact work; it would probably only work well on small dents, like hail damage. But I too am curious to hear from someone who has actually done it.

I don't have easy access to dry ice at work but we do have it. We actually have someone here that makes there own. They have some sort of machine that makes it from compressed CO2. I suppose I could ask for some but I would feel weird since I don't know them that well.

I do have access to liquid notrogen though and I have a bed with numerous dents and a fender that I can test it on. I'll have to see if I can get this to work. Maybe I could make different sized dents to test it.

I'll see what I can come up with over the next week or two and let you know.

I assume it will only take out dents that dont have creases.
