Rebuild cv axles

I'm replacing the cv axles in my 4runner with new ones and was wanting to rebuild the old ones I take out so I'll have extra axles. The boots have torn and sling the grease out but they haven't started clicking can I just clean them and replace the grease and boots? Or is there more that needs to be done

Nope. That's pretty much all you can do.

Be sure to get the genuine Toyota rebuild kits. They come with the correct greases and the good clamps. I found some on ebay for a good price. Shop around.
The aftermarket rubber boots are inferior and don't last near as long as original.
Even though it's a messy pain, I would rebuild a usable oem halfshaft in preference to using an aftermarket one any day.
I just rebuilt the shafts in my '87 a couple months ago.
Repack your wheel bearings while you're in there.

Yea I'll be packing bearings along with ball joints while I'm in there. Do y'all recommend the high angle cv boots? My 4runner is lifted and the cv axles are pretty steep. I have a diff drop I need to install hopefully that'll help my boots some
