Rebuild

I have a 22RE with 265,000 miles on it. I have recently been wanting to rebuild, as a preemptive measure, as opposed to having it break down on me and being forced to. What steps are necessary to follow in order to do a thorough, but inexpensive rebuild. I saw SuperBleeder's rebuild, which I loved, but i don't want to go that "aftermarket" I want to go bare minimum. For example, do i need to get oversized pistons if i have the cylinders resurfaced, or can i stay with the same size? What are the basic needs of a rebuild as opposed to the frills?
