Power steering help?

Hoping someone has had a similar issue or is very familiar with these power steering systems.

- 1984 4X4 just completed a full nut and bolt restoration. Everything is flawless except the power steering is INOPERATIVE!

- New (reman) pump
- Clean reservoir and screen.
- New ATF for fluid
- Lines checked and flushed
- Original steering gear box
- NO leaks

1 - Checked pressure at pump at idle = 1020 lbs (deadheaded)
2 - Did the factory bleed procedure keeping the reservoir full and letting the return fill another cup until all air is out (took a while).
3 -Noted that the return from the box is flowing FAST
4 - tried the lock to lock bleed on stands MANY times (no improvement)

It makes no sense, the truck steers fine (if it were manual steering) and there is no binding in the linkage....????

Wondering if the bok has a check valve that is bypassing all the pressure although the outlet is nowhere near 1000psi but just normal return psi.

If what all you checked is correct on the truck side bad day at the reman plant .

Just which brand did you go with

You are comparing the steering with the engine running and the engine off with no difference !!

Are you expecting being able to spin the wheel with just your pinky finger lock to lock??

What was wrong with the old pump how was the steering with that ??
