Poll: What generation 4runner do you own?
#334
Here's one for you, I do own two, 1st and 2nd gen but does anyone out there have the the TRUE 4Runner forefather? I almost bought one back in 1982. Seems there was a Puyallup (pew al up) WA. Toyota dealer that was doing a special version in conjunction with Winnebago called the "Wolverine". You ordered a Toyota 4x4 pickup in the color you wanted with all the options then you ordered the Wolverine package with a list of options as well. Then the truck was pulled from Toyota's port warehouse in Portland, OR and shipped by truck down the road to Winnebago's facility in Oregon. They did a conversion on the truck that mounted a rear bench seat, cut out the rear of the cab, insulated sealed and trimmed the joint between the bed, cap and cab. Installed rollbar, carpeted interior and some other ammenities as selected by the owner. Then after completion was shipped to the Toyota dealer back in Puyallup. The rear cap was color coded to the rest of the body and they also had some really cool appliques. One of the options was a Seattle Seahawks logo package that they had as the demo vehicle. The graphics started at the front fender with the hawks beak wrapped around the fron wheel well and went all the way to the rear. done in Seahawk blue and green striping and it was very impressive. They were running around $12K with the base options all the way up to a whopping $16K! They sold quite a few Wolverines. Guess Toyota saw the writing on the wall? So let us not forget our forefathers! It may be a Gen 4 now but it had to start somewhere! Toyota, still climbing rocks, always moving forward!

From: NW Ark on wooded ten acres...Ozarks at large!
1st gen/'86/22re....bone stock. Tough as freakin' nails!!!
Pulled a '78 Plymouth Trailduster 4x4 up a mud laiden logging road....in L4 of course. My workhorse!
2nd gen/'92/3.hey,atleast it g.0es!....tran. cooler & ISR mod. Not a powerhouse, but the nicest ride I ever owned. At 33yrs of age, I drive like grandpa, anyway.
My favorite of the two? Depends on the application! AFA looks, nothing after 2nd gen's impress me.
EDIT: I don't know, though....that '02 of RunnerUp's looks pretty mean!
