misinformation

I've seen a lot of people here lately handing out technical advice when they have no idea what they are talking about. Please, if you don't have first hand knowledge or aren't sure about your advice, don't say anything. Bad information is worse than no information. Think about how well you know the subject for you post.

Conversely, for the people asking for advice always search around and check to see what other people have said in the past. Fads come and go, this month the hot ticket might be BFG tires, the next month it's goodyears. This includes doing a google search to find what other people on other websites are doing. Always try to get several opinions before making a decision.

If you don't know - don't post
If unsure, say so or don't post

Nobody will be offended of you say that you are not sure - get over your pride

I think this is important. If you think you know something...say it. Just let the person know that you are not 100% sure. This way someone may have an idea of what the answer is and they may then be able to find the definite answer.
