The splines on the hub need to engage the splines on the end of the CV.

The hub body does engages to the cv, then the cover engages to the outside of the hub body gear when locked. But is the cv shaft supposed to be protruding out of the hub body or does it not have to? Sorry, don't know how else to explain my quest. Hopefully I can take a pic to show what I mean.

pic post

you can see that the cv end is inside of the hub body. The end nut cannot be screwed all the way in because of this. Is it supposed to be like this. THe hub is on all the way.

You mean the screw that goes in the end of the CV axle with the big washer?

It looks OK, but you may need to push more of the axle through from the back side to get the screw started. Be careful not to tear the boot! Then as you tighten the screw, it should pull it to the right place.

special bulletin

The nut not properly fitting, was actually the reason why my cvs would lock up at higher speeds. There is actually a special bulletin that superwinch had about this specific problem. No one seemed to know about it, until I made them dig several times to find a solution to my problem. Why it was not released to the public is a mystery. I had to call superwinch several times before I got a hold of this. Hopefully I can somehow get these parts I need. This is the bulletin and hopefully it may help someone later if they encounter the same problem. Thanks for all the help though, appreciate it.

I thought you said you had ADD hubs with the splined plate - not automatic.

I don't think that bulletin applies to you...

It is an add, but the warning at the bottom about the inner spline not extending past the spline gear is the problem I'm having. It seems as though the "stop plug" and hex bolt" will fix this problem by putting a spacer between the cv end, and the hex bolt that screws into the end. The bottom warning seems to talk only about the hubs, regardless of whether or not its add or auto, which would be different behind the hub body. Is this not true?
