Maintenance on my new 4 Runner

Hello

This is a great site. I just bought my first 4 runner. 2000 Limited with 92000. It just had the timing belt and water pump replaced as well as a tanny flush and filter. I just Installed new Sensetracs on the rear. My questions is what other maintenance should I be doing at this mileage range.

Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to Yotatech.

My first advice would be to learn to use the search button and to search the various forums for answers to your questions.

There is a "stickied" thread on the General Tech forum that has all the answers you need and a simple search typing in "maintenance" would have revealed it to you quickly.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f123/toyota-maintenace-search-engine-online-fsm-manuals-hunter-balancers-38266/

Good luck.

Be sure to lube the driveline zerks. You'll find them at U-joints and slip yokes. This should be done at each oil change. If you fail to keep them full of grease, your 'Runner will soon develop the dreaded "clunk" at stop lights due to slip yoke binding.

Great info thanks so much. I noticed on the left side of the motor the plug wires have some sort of box on top of the boot what is that?

Thanks Again and Happy Holidays

Just so you know for next time, there is no need to change the filter on these transmissions. It is a fine metal mesh filter that can be cleaned. Again, a search would have revealed this. There is so much info on this site that mostly all your questions can be answered just by searching.

Consider flushing your brake system out. It's easy, DIY maintenance that you can do for cheap. See my writeup here.
You can also flush your power steering system yourself for a few dollars. See my writeup here.

Welcome to Yotatech.

the search sucks as of late, i cant find anything i look for. so dont sweat it. better ask than screw it up

if properly cared for, your 4runner will last well into its 200k miles. maybe even 300k, 400k, etc.
