M/Ts on a DD
How many of yall run mud terrains on your normal daily driver? i ask because i am wondering if the wear from everyday road use shortens their life significantly? MTs are not cheap but is having a "road set" of ATs or something of the life and then swapping in some muds for trail use worth it? does the cost of having a second set offset the amount you save by not replacing the MTs as often? thanks guys

I've run MT's on previous vehicles and they do wear down faster because they are a softer compound.
Depending on what kind of off-roading you do, A/T's would work just fine for On/Off road. It would save you money from buying MT's when they wear out faster. And having a spare set on spare wheels is also kind of a pain in the butt. It all depends on what you have money for really...
But all in all if you dont go 4 wheeling that often, then having a spare set isnt going to help you at all, you would be better just getting some BFG all terrains IMO.

I drove my 4runner all last college year on MT's. Using them as a DD tire depends totally on how much you drive. I drove only 6K miles between both semesters. During the summer, I put 3K on the Ranger that would have went on the runner had I been made to drive it.
For me, it was definatley worth it. If you've never wheeled with Street tires or AT's and then went to MT's........you'll know the difference it makes.

I would get some MTs mounted on some 15in cheap black steel rims just for off roading. I think its a waist of money to drive the MTs on a dd ive done it on my past few trucks and they wear realy fast, but they do look a lot better than a normal street tire.

I have BFG MT's on my DD and I love them they have shown very little wear and they have around 12,000 mi on them not too loud. I would get MT's B/c they look good and if you get the BFG's they last just my $0.02

If mine would balance they'd be great. I take my work truck home so they only get driven to my son's school, 1/4 mile, and around town on the weekend. AWESOME off road. no more reckless tire spinning. Great traction. I've only been offroad 2 times with them and am more than impressed.

I have 31X10.50 BFG MT's on my 89 pickup (daily driver). I rotate them every oil change (3000 miles) and check the air pressure (37 PSI) almost every week. Had them for close to a year and no signs of premature wear.

I have had two sets of tires for about 3 years now, hate it. I am selling my 92, but if I were keeping it the street rubber would be for sale. Its not worth it, IMO. MPITA to swap em, from what I have seen of BFG Muds they dont wear that quick on a DD rig. My next rig will be a new taco, and its shoes will be 265/75/17 BFG muds, street and trail.

ive been running MTR's on mine as a DD since i bought it and i too admit they wear a little faster but not so much to justify another set or at least as far as i am concerned?
just my .02 worth

I have BFG MT on my DD Taco for over 40K Miles and they look like they will easily get another 30K more miles. I drive about 25K miles a year. I rotate and balance every 5K miles. The truck sees a lot of off-road use for fishing and hunting.

I have 305/70/16 Firestone Destination MT's for my daily driver, have put about 8k miles on them, barely any wear on the tread. I had a set of 265/75/16 BFG MT's that i put about 25k on them and they still had 50% or more of the tread left. I don't think its worthwhile to have 2 sets of tires and wheels, especially when you consider having to change them.

I agree with AH64ID. The only reason I would want A/T's on my DD is because I go from AZ to CA a lot. But I will suck it up when I get my BFG M/Ts come summer time.

i have 285/75/16 TrXus M/T's on my daily driver, and after about 20k, they are still holding up well. atleast 50% left (probably more). i have done a poor job at rotating them too. i just make sure they are properly inflated (29psi) and rotated them 3 times so far.
they are not too loud, and do just fine on road, adn great off.

I plan on getting 35x12.5x15 BFG MT's on my truck and I drive 60 miles per day during the week. Assuming they last for 50,000 miles, I'd be able to drive them for 833 weekdays. I just can't imagine as it being necessary to have 2 different sets of tires on different rims...
And to put on my geek suit, 60 miles per day on 35" tires is about 108,617 revolutions per day.
