Les Schwab Dented My Truck

I took my 4runner in today for an alingment and the guy took it around the block to put it up on the lift. I walked out to watch them and noticed 3 dents. one in the tail gate and 2 in the bumper. I asked him if he had to back up and he said yes. I showed him the dents and I know they were not there before he drove it! The manager came out and didn't want to really help. He gave me the claim form and my bill.

Anybody done a claim before or is it too much of a hassle.
Thanks

Man that sucks! Sad to say probably not much you can do unless you can prove it. It always makes me nervous when those guys drive my rig. My cousin works for Les Schwab and he has told me some crazy stories about driving customers rigs.

I personally never liked them. I would make sure if you do intend on doing anything about it, you should do it right away. Don't wait!

I have been going to Schwab's for over 20 years, this is the first story I have heard of someone having a problem like this, but know it could happen... Blew a tire in Carson City, NV had a new one mounted and was gone with 45 minutes...

Same here.
Started in around '88, and have dealt with the current one I go to since '91.

Never had a problem.
Only thing I have to do after I get the rig back is wipe down the door sills.
They always get scuff/grease marks on them when getting in the rig.

Les Scabby ruined all four of my BBS RX's wheels on my BMW. They denied it, but in the end they paid to have them all refinished as it looked like the tire guy used a crowbar to put the tires on the rims. Insult to injury was when the Toyos they mounted were completely shot after 8k they tried to tell me the tires had no warranty that was until I presented the Toyo warranty terms then they warranted them.

Les Scabby is a joke I refuse to go there

I think I may just let it go. I would need to get 2 estimates and just my luck I would get something else dented while getting an estimate. I don't think I will be going to Schwabs again after the way they handled my situation and the one close to me seems pretty sketchy anyway.

My new defense is a ball hitch receiver!

like i said, i've always been impressed with schwabs, but i could see how single stores could have less than adequate service. i knew a guy who was a manager at a schwabs for over 15 years in the tri-cities and his store always ranked really high...but it seems like they give the individual managers a lot of control as to how they will run their particular store...maybe you've got a bum location/manager?

They suck. Total A holes.

They refused to offer me any compensation on a tire that was OBVIOUSLY defective. I bought my truck from a guy who had just paid for an ENTIRE BRAND NEW set, including a spare, of TXR 35x12.5x15LT's. They were 500 miles old when I purchased the truck. After 2500 miles of use, one of the tires wore a flat spot on it. I've really never seen anything like it. A 4-5" section of the tread, from side wall to side wall, had worn exceedingly fast. I not only could see that there was something wrong with the tire, it felt like driving with a square wheel.

Their OFFICIAL word was that they couldn't see anything wrong with the tire. And I probably had "bad shocks". Which of course they wanted to sell me, as well as another tire to replace the one I was complaining about. They even asked me for my receipt for the tires. I lied and said I lost it, but what pissed me of was them asking me for it. WHERE IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK THEY CAME FROM LES? Who else sells your crappy house brand "Mild Country" tires? Or maybe you think I stole 5 brand new tires from ya, and now I want another. Get real.

I told them, "NO SALE, as I'll be doing all my future business with the tire shop across town".

Screw you Les Schwab, and the horse you rode in on....

Thanks.

A few of my favorite quotes from Pedro.

"Hey man....that's false advertising!"

"I seen them guys who took too much acid, man, they be walkin' around my neighborhood with their heads all swelled up look like pumpkins."

"My license?...the license is on the bumper."

In their defense, their tire warranty explicitly states that the warranty is good only for the original owner/purchaser. So, even IF they had agreed it was a defective tire they wouldn't be obligated to warranty it since you did not purchase them.

Now personally, I think this is BS. A company should warranty their product, not the owner, but that's a whole other thread...
