Leaking Windshield

The windshield on my truck is leaking on the bottom right half and I'm not sure rather I should just get a new windshield (this one is in alright condition) or just have a shop take it out and replace the seal.
Has anyone had this problem and if so what did it run to have the seal replaced?

Where do you see/feel water at? It is common on those trucks for water to come in around the wiper area and you get water on the floor. There was a good thread on this subject a while back.

I thought my leak was the windshield, and it was not. Are you positive the leak starts from the windshield? If so, I say put a little silicone on the obvious spots and save some money.

yup just needs to be resealed ... or you could throw a brick through it and have your insurance replace it.

all that's wet, and it looks like it's running down behind that bottom plastic piece behind the dash and..

dripping off the bottom of the dash and that black thing

onto the floor that doesn't have the rubber mat, kickpanel, or carpet in because of this leak..

I guess my standing is I don't like to spend money if I don't have to. Any shop is going to hand you over a bill which will be 95% labor. The way I figure it is pull the trim yourself, re-seal it, and put the trim back on and save yourself some dough. Of course, some people have more to toss around than I do, so I say get your quotes and then decide. (Oooohh! Tossing dough! I am hungry!)

wish I could do it myself, but as far as I know you gotta pull the windshield out to reseal it.. anyway the best deal I found was 99 to reaseal it but with no guarantee that the glass won't break when they pull it off the old seal.

The windshields on the 4Rs are a pain to reseal and it needs to be done right or else you're gonna have problems later on such as more leaks or even the winshield blowing out while driving. The urethane adhesive used to hold the windshield is fussy to work with. Your best bet is to have a professional glass place remove the old adhesive and reseal it.

Another thing, depending on how long it's been leaking, there is probably rust underneath the old sealant which will need to be fixed before the glass can be resealed. (Got burned by the same problem. Took 3 weeks to cut new metal and replace all the rusted areas under the old seal.)

leaking too

I had my windshield replaced awhile back, the glass is fine, the sill is rusting up and taking water, what I would like to do is protect the glass, wire wheel out the rust, treat with say por15, then fill with urethane, how does this sound? I would rather not pull the glass
