Interesting new engine design

Just saw the CEO of the company on CNBC, its basically a 2 stoke engine. They claim 50% better efficiency with half the weight and size. Coming to production soon (probably a Japanese car but that was hush hush).

Electrically Controlled Turbocharger
This development in turbocharger technology incorporates an electric motor into the turbo assembly. In essence, it provides a supercharger, driven by the electric motor, as an adjunct to the exhaust-driven turbocharger. Boost pressure can be created by the electric motor, the turbocharger, or both. The ECT effectively eliminates turbo lag because the electric motor provides much faster turbine response, and also provides boost when there is low energy from the exhaust flow. The motor is actuated by an electronic controller, which can be integrated with the engine control unit. When it is being spun by the turbocharger, the electric motor acts as generator, producing electricity.

Interesting design. I wonder what it's reliability would be like. If it's power/efficiency are just like the company claims, it could be the hybrid killer.
I'm kind of excited to see if these motors could be made inexpensively, and put into some cars in the near future.
The exhaust note has got to be odd on one of those. Like a two stroke Subaru, or something.

supplement the gas motor? you mean have this motor, and a gasoline engine?..kinda like the hybrid setups
this MYT engine is like....the greatest breakthrough in automobile history...lol it makes like 135hp and like triple that in torque at VERY low RPMs...and it does it while getting like 80mpg
yes..814lb ft of torque and 124 horsepower at 800rpm......now if that's not power idk what is...imagine it at 2000rpms...lmao
although the ratios in the tranny, t-case, and differentials of this thing are gonna be out of wack...i mean i don't think you'd just be able to throw one of these MYT engines into a yota and drive off...because it produces the power at such low rpms..the tranny gearing would have to be changed wouldn't it?
