I have a vibration issue!

1995 Toyota DLX pickup, I have a vibration/noise in what feels like the front. I assume it's in the front because I can make it quit by locking in 4x4. The noise sounds almost like the tire is rubbing on something, but it isn't. Any ideas where to start?

Need more information, do you have automatic hubs? If not, does the vibration go away when you shift into 4x4 or when you lock in the hubs? what speed are you going when you first notice the vibration? what speed does it vibrate worst? Just going with my suspicions, I'd say you have manual hubs and a bad u-joint or slip yoke that is only vibrating when it is spinning with no load.

I have automatic hubs. Vibration goes away when I shift into 4 wheel drive and apply throttle or load. It starts in first gear (manual transmission) and doesn't go away once it starts. Gets worse gradually as you speed up.

check to see if your auto hubs are disengaging properly and check your driveshafts and u-joints.

Thanks! I am thinking it was hubs. Cold temperatures seemed to be it.
