How are these prices for major tune up????
Part from anythingtoyota.com
pcv valve 3.62
pcv valve grommet 3.09
6 plugs 9.54
plug wires 57.65
dist cap 11.84
dist rotor 5.92
fuel filter 27.23
air filter 12.80
02 sensor 105.37
ac belt 12.29
alt belt 12.29
ps belt 13.32
Have to get coolant and misc. fluids for diff & trans. case exchanges as well.
$283.59 total. I'm probably going to get a thermostat as well
Labor from local mechanic
coolant flush 20.00
pcv install 10.00
plugs & wires 50.00
cap & rotor 10.00
fuel filter 20.00
differential 20.00
transfer 25.00
02 sensor 15.00
belts 30.00
Total of Labor $200
Transmission Flush from Dealer = $109.00
One other thing I want to do is have the wheel bearings repacked. Is this all 4 wheels? (sorry for the dumb question), oh yeah and new radiator hoses as well.
Total for major tune up is gonna be between $600-$700
Some things I could potentially do myself (fuel filter, o2 sensor, diffs & transfer case, coolant) Don't have anywhere to do the work or to dispose of fluids.
But their is no way I'm touching those plugs (wow those are a lot deeper than my '87 civic) or the pcv (would be a pia and ruin an afternoon for ME)
What do you think???

For myself, I like to do some things, but there are others I have no knowledge of, so I pay to have them done.
A friend of mine's father said this when paying for work on his car...
"My time is worth more to me than working on my vehicle as it would take me longer to figure out how to fix it and cost me more money than to pay someone else to do it."
So it is not because he couldn't work on it, it is because it isn't worth it to him.
You can get some of those parts cheaper online, particularly the O2 sensor for like $40, same exact sensor from some place in CA called "sparkplugs" or something. Look on Roger Brown's site as he has a link to where he got it. www.4crawler.com
He has a lot of good info on his site for 1st gen DIY repairs.
