Man, that is dumb. At what point did they thin that a runner burried to the frame was going to be pulled out by a single chain?

Yikes!!! This is why you should never go for the"jerk" with a chain, or cable. How did that 4Runner get that stuck?

that's what you're SUPPOSED to do just like you're NOT SUPPOSED to get running starts with chain. I think it was either bad judgment or they're trying to prove that natural selection does exist.

This is why my company bans chains from any recovery. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

A) Use a properly rated strap. One that you inspect before taking it out on the trail.

B) No one stands near the recovery.

C) Use a dampening aid, like someone mentioned before, to reduce any kind of slingshot effect if it does go.

D) If you're recovering by backing up, open your hood to deflect anything that comes flying your way.

E) Duck.

holy! Thats just stupid. Before going offroad, go spend 40 bucks on a decent trail rated recovery strap.. cheaper then a new rear window for the runner!
