Just bought my 96 Limited for $2500 (Cdn). 256,000km. Mind you that was "as is", with front and rear ends blown up, leaking steering rack, seedy exhaust, and in dire need of shocks and struts. Poor thing was badly neglected. Frame and body in good solid condition, though.
Fortunately I was able to acquire the entire front and rear ends out of a 98 Tacoma (including all steering!) for $400, so my Runner is now sporting a Taco rear end and axles/brakes, Taco front end, and full Taco steering all the way out to the brakes! (side note: did you guys know that Taco steering components are beefier than 4Runner??)

4x4 sr5 1998 with 115K $8000 in San Diego, CA in June 07
I have put about $2500 in it now. Some preventitive maintenance timing belt/water pump, shocks/struts. Then I had to change the axle seal.
Lots of little scratches/dents, but it is a truck so it doesn't bother me so much.
I thought it was a good price at first but it is working out to just be a fair price after all the work.

Bought mine back in June. A '96 SR5 2x4 120k miles for $4000. Good body/interior. A "daughter's truck".. Seriously.. There was a sticker of lips on the rear view mirror. A clip on vanity mirror on the driver's side.. And some Gillette Silver Bear tires.. They're skinnier than the full sized spare

89 4Runner Special Edition. I paid $300, talked him down from $500, he even drove it out to my place and dropped it off & left the $200 stereo in it. His wife made him change from Toyota over to the "dark side". His loss, my gain.

I paid $2000 for a 85 4runner with 81K original miles last summer. Unfortunatly there very very very hard to find around here and the guy knew what he had. This same guy had it for over 10 years and just let it sit outside for some reason. He should be flogged. When I first started it up it ran perfectly, then problems developed. Since, it sat forever, I have been working on it ever since I got it. You name it, it needs attention. When I bought it I knew it was going to be a lemon but I felt the obligation to ressurect it to what it should be. Please tell me I am doing the right thing. When I get done it should be a good rig.
