How many of you have drowned your truck?
And how long did it last you before it gave up? What kind of problems did you have? How did you solve them, if at all? I drowned mine in October and it runs fine today, actually better than before. But one of my co-workers at work keeps telling me I should sell it before it gives me problems. After I drowned it one of the first things I did was spray my fuse boxes and light sockets with WD-40. Should I be afraid? Should I sell my truck? I love it and wouldn't want to sell it. Advice?

If it runs and drive well, why mess with it?
The only thing you should have made sure to do was drain and refill the diffs, trannys, and engine. Basically all fluids.

Wow!Nice! My buddy just got his 84 stuck in the sac river after they let the dam down. Whole front end was buried so far you couldnt see his 32s. When he would rev it you would see water fly thoguh the hood from the fan. We couldnt get it out with my 81, and his dads trooper. Tried later that night with an f150, and no go. 3 snapped tow straps later, a z71 chevy yanked him out. Still runs good. You should definely change all your fluids if you sink your truck.

no experience with swamped trucks but on sleds, change all fluids, spray down the electrical stuff with wd to get the water out and flip upside down. good luck with that last step tho :S i really just wanted to say that is an awesome picture, the reflection of the truck is killer. So at least you got some great pics.

Fortunately, I didn't hydrolock my motor. Turned it off just before it would've sucked in water. But I already have changed all my fluids, that's including changing the motor oil 3 times. And I've already sprayed down all my fuses. I pulled them out one at a time, sprayed WD-40 in the sockets, and then put the fuse back. I also sprayed down all the sockets for the light bulbs.
Mine happened in the Yuba river.

i have drowned mine once...(1980 4x4 20r)..i hit a mud hole...(about the size of 2 of my trucks long and wide)...i didnt think it was too deep because the one before it was fairly shallow...NOPE I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!....i hit it doin about 5 to 10mph...bigggggg mistake..water came over my hood...almost immediately drowned my truck...luckily the water didnt stay over my hood...it was JUST BELOW MY ALTERNATOR!!! (thank the lord)...anyways it sat there for the better part of 20 minutes...finally got it pulled out...got it out on dry land...it started right up..no problems at all...kinda weird sounding to me
...the part about NOTHING being wrong...lol

Well I just sank mine. No pics but I was up to the valance in the front and water soaked in the back of the cab.
When I first splashed into the water hole, it went way over the hood. I had to use the starter to get her out of the hole. Air filter was foaming and ran super bad on the way home.
I'm still in the process trying to determine how bad the HG is blown or if that is even the case...

I got mine stuck in some snotty mud at my local lake just after 2 days of heavy rain. Got out there near NO trees so whinching wasnt an option. my buddie got stuck 100 ft before he even got to me. the ranger couldnt give us a ticket for leaving them there over night, cause he did'nt want to walk through the mud or get stuck himself there.

Not my rig but one of my friends.

all we did was pull it home, drop the oil, pull plugs cranked it over a few times to get all the water outta the cylinders wd-40'd everything, let it sit over night next day he changed all the other fluids, put oil and a new filter and it fired right up
