Isn't Aisin the OEM Toyota clutch brand?
I have 221k on my '87 4x4. Mostly mountain miles, opposite of highway miles
. Over 26 years it has had a lack of routine maintenance, but has only needed some minor repairs and the timing chain. Unfortunately it is going to be needing some more serious work soon though.
265k on my '88 4x2. Bought it non-drivable, did a lot of work to it, but needs more. I believe it still has the original lower end, but the head has been redone due to the timing chain breaking.
178k on my '82 4x4 ranch truck. The engine is possibly the only good part left on it. The history of it is unknown other than being wheeled, beat on, and beat some more!

haha, ok i'll get them tomorrow as soon as I get out of the woods. It's all original, efi, and powersteering. I bought it from an older man that had it since it was new a week ago. Only thing I wish I could change is that it's a auto. But the wifey can atleast drive it if she had to. I paid 2,400 for it because threw a rod so motor has to be rebuilt.

Don't know anymore, odometer went out and I'm in the process of figuring it out, so it's stuck at 143k and some change, and the truck was geared years ago and has had 31's on it since like 1996, I'll guess like 180k

idk for sure, i was told exedy/daikin was oe by a "toyota guy" in san jose there both from japan and they both claim to be oem. anyone pull there stock clutch lately? im interested to find out which is which now. maybe he was pulling my chain. ive been running the exedy/daikin one for 50k now with no issues. but you can pull at least twice that out of a pos clutch so you've got me curious now.

I have always understood it to be Aisin, but it has been long enough where I have forgotten where I got the info. I know Aisin stuff is good, but I do not remember hearing anything bad about Exedy. Somewhere in the back of my mind it is OEM for a different manufacturer, but I cannot remember any of my sources to check them for sure. I am going to change the clutch in my truck one of these days, so I will have to check. Maybe OEM brands could be different between the 22R and the 3VZ?

I would be interested to find out what clutch is in your truck when you end up pulling it. i would hate to find out that the "local toyota guy" is selling some bs all he works on is toyota 4x4s all day long. he's forgotten more about toyota's than ill ever know so we shall see huh? exedy sells to "all 11 japanese vehicle manufacturers" according to there website.

Supernerd, 2toys: I just pulled the original clutch out of my '89 3vze and it has both "Toyota" and "Aisin" stamped into it. When you get ready to pull your clutch, I have a helluva cool trick I learned on how to remove old pilot bearing.
