Bought in 97 at Dirkes used dealership in Choteau, MT. One owner truck. In about late 99, timing cover had enough, made a milkshake. Rather than replace timing set and cover, dad decided an unknown condition junkyard motor was better...in 2000, tranny developed issues, probably related to JY motor, according to my uncle, a Toy and import tech. Rebuilt tranny. In 2002, rear 3rd member went, as a result of bad tranny rebuild. Replaced tranny and rear 3rd. In about mid 04, JY engine timing cover had enough, made a good bye milkshake. I split the cost of a "low mile imported " engine with my dad, and it lasted until...
March 08, when, on my mid tour leave, I learned I would be car-less for the duration of my stay. Kid sister nuked that motor, out "mudding". So in early 09, I located a rebuilder here local, and popped $1100 for a reman longblock, with a THREE YEAR warranty. Its been a great 3 years plus, and never misses a beat. Gets babied, flogged on occasion, runs 5w40 rotella, and is about to get a fill of redline lubes, duff's, trans and t-case. Mismatched bed is due to Portland's tri-met bus backing into it about the time the original motor croaked.
HOLY SISTER-DESTRUCTO! hehehe... I really enjoyed reading that, man... thanks for sharing.(Not the sister nuked it or the rest of the troubles.. I wouldn't wish that on.... Well, yes I would, but that's besides the point, You KWIMean! HAHA....).... CRAZY some of the stories these have. Imagine if that one on Top Gear could speak, right? haha... "Oh man, I was put in the ocean, demo'd on a building.... What about you, CombatCarlYota?" lol....

I had a question.... maybe someone can tell me, but I PROMISE I'll look it up...

I've had 31's on here since 100K miles.... My ODOMETER now reads 268,000, roughly... What are my ACTUAL miles with 168K of it being on 31's and 410's? (It's only been on 4.30's for a few thousand).... Around another 10-11K? (Thought it was 7.?% added for 31's and 4.10's)....

Anyway, it's great to see all this MILEAGE....and STILL ROLLIN!

More done in the last 15,000 than in the first 190,000

89 Pickup 22RE 5 Speed (with about 2500 mi. on it) 4x4 with 204,000+ miles. Had it almost a year. Replaced transmission, clutch, flywheel, rear shaft u-joints, rear brakes, rear axle bearings and seals (and new rear brakes AGAIN thanks to all the gear oil), new TPS, replaced all vacuum lines with silicone, LED dash lights upgrade, replaced broken exhaust downpipe, battery/airbox swap, and sway bar removed. I've pulled the steering wheel to clean the connections so my stock horn works again (I HATED it when someone suggested adding a button somewhere on the dash for the horn). I also had to weave rope under the seats to give it suspension again because the tiny little wires that hold your butt up were destroyed by the ENORMOUS previous owner. Currently still searching for issues with the ECU. I have plans for new exhaust, EGR deletion, new suspension and body bushing, upgrade steering gear box, upgrade to the V6 front brakes, and maybe a lift, bigger tires, new gears and lockers (which will also include a V6 3rd member too) eventually.

Whew! It's a good thing I don't have a payment to make on this ol truck. It's 23 years old now and at this rate by the time it's 25 it'll be brand new again!

If he said he replaced the timing chain on a 3.0, he was lying.

I've got 274,884 on my '92 single cab 5spd 4x4 (not sure what exact model) as of right now. According to the receipts from previous owner (he was the 2nd owner) he had it rebuilt around 250k and new valve cover and head bolts. Has a timing issue due to old and worn coil and distributor cap, which are original along with the tranny.

Miles on the Yota and questions

99 4 runner SR5 has 197,650!!!! It is beginning to idle rough when stopped and Its starting to bog down if I need to get on it. I step on the gas and it feels like it chugs three or our times and then will kick in and move. Any suggestions or thoughts on a possible problem? Thanks everyone.

IIRC, Mass Airflow Sensor is likely needing cleaned. I would have thought you'd see a CEL but in any case I'd clean the MAF.
My 99 4Runner Ltd is at 268k and counting
