I'm looking at galvanising a number of bits on my truck underside.
I'd probably do a duplex paint over galvanised finish.

Anyone have a ballpark idea what it would cost to hot dip galvanise a budbuilt skid and belly pan; a gas tank skid; and a custom rear bumper?

I live in a pissy rainy place that teams up with slush and salt in the mountains in the winter to attack my skids from all sides. I can deal with the scrapes with a rattle can, but the general corrosion and flaking is what I'm trying to avoid. I don't like dropping skids to do a full repaint annually.

Here is an interesting paper on painting over galvanising. It seems ideal for armour as the rust won't propagate from scrapes and flake.
