I've always considered getting an older ford diesel and making it into a monster truck

indirect injection means that the diesel is injected into a smaller pre-combustion chamber in the head before mixing fully into the cylinders. A direct injection diesel will inject the diesel right into the cylinder itself with no pre-combustion chamber.

ALL diesels are fuel injected, be it mechanical or electric. You CAN NOT carbeurate a diesel motor. The whole point of a diesel is to inejct fuel after compression. Tell me how you're going to suck in air, compress it, then pass it through a carb.

Yea, later last night I thought about that. When you pop the hood you do see a big round air cleaner housing just like on a carbed gas engine. I figured that as what had you confused.

Its all good. You got a pretty tough old truck to mess around with. My brother had one that he abused the heck out of for years but couldn't kill. I'm talking about an oil change every two years, only change the fuel filters when they are too clogged to flow fuel, same for air cleaner, bad glow plugs so he started it with ether (very bad idea with these motors), etc, etc. He finally wrecked it and totalled it out, but the engine ran just fine. Pretty amazing to me that the thing lasted as long as it did.

Yeah that all makes sense. Diesel is all new to me.

Yeah this guy was using ether too, looks like i need some new glow plugs this week.

From what i've read this is a tough truck. Bulletproof trans and a super good motor.

She's got more chassis flex than suspension flex though

Haha most fords have insane chassis flex. My old ford would twist pretty well. Trucks looking good though. Dont listen to the ford haters. They are too indulged in their ricers to appreciate a nice domestic once in a while.
