Hit a pole.. Now what?

Slid into a pole off the icy interstate this morning. This is the only picture I have, currently. The passenger door is completely trashed, the a pillar and rocker guard have a nice dent, and the windshield is obviously destroyed. Name: D1E7CDEE-6D66-4DB0-886C-790651603B5A_zpsyqw4f5wl.jpg

What repair cost(s) and possibilities am I looking at right now with this? I can get more pictures later on.

Pillar is fubared and cab is buckled
1) cab swap
2) attempt to unfubar it
3) total it

It all depends just how you want the end result

Looks to me like a Door will fix you up

A new piece of glass for the extended window looks broken from the picture.

Good to go!!

Paint the whole Truck and do the rest of the body work .$$$

Only you can know what you want to do.

This is all I can get with the excess of trashbags and duct tape. Of course it's been raining all morning, adding crap to the crapbasket! Thank you Wyoming and drop zone for the very quick replies. I'm gonna have a body shop check it out later this week, but until then, any other opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Gotta pull out the cab using a chain and a come along or a winch. The bottom of the cab and a-pillar are fubar. Then its just putting on a door.

It wont be all to easy to do really as you not only pushed in the outer metal but the inner parts of the cab.

Judging by the color of the door one would think a door is simply not meant to be there.

Wish I had something constructive for you. Hope you're able to come up with a reasonable deal. Don't you just love this crazy winter?

I had just grabbed a set of doors with the wing mirrors this weekend, so they didn't match, but I was preparing for paint once it warmed up. It was such a deal, too! $50 for two wing doors!

Keep them coming, guys..

I'd say the best option to get the best results at the end will be a cab swap.

this is what is so hard

I would have no problem putting in the new pillar .

Cutting out the and replacing the under door pieces

That to me is much easier than a cab swap

Have someone install the new windshield

It all comes down to where your skills are.

To pay someone else will get real expensive

I guess it depends what your insurance company then maybe not I carry collision on all my vehicles.

Sadly, I can't weld, nor do I know anyone that can. I have a couple friends in the body work business, so I can see what they'll charge, but I just don't know.. I'm riding the line between buying a new truck for a swap, paying for the repairs, or just buying another truck and parting this one.. It's so hard to do, though, because she runs so flawlessly, has low mileage, and is nearly 100% original.

Being you can`t really fix it being Honest.

You might at least talk to your friends.

I would look for another one the same year Keep the parts you want sell what you don`t

Although it is nice to have your own extra parts on hand.

Just How fast do you need another one that is where things can done on impulse and not thought out.

Well, after this accident, I backed off the pole, creeped out of the ditch, then pulled out a little Mercury Taurus-equivelant from the opposite side ditch. I've never been more proud of my truck! Name: 19965BC3-5374-4F42-861D-0971A58FBF82_zpsghaqpgnh.jpg

After that, I drove it another 2 hours back to college, and plan on driving it today, Wednesday, and again Thursday for 3 more hours. Outside of the horrible racket of the flapping trash bag, the truck is smooth, drives straight, and is safe (enough). I'm not impulsive in the lea$t, but I still need to have a plan within this or next week. Tax season is coming and I'll have the funds to fix her. I just need to have that "plan". Thanks for your help so far Wyoming.

Paying a body shop could get expensive. It has been a while but some of the community colleges or high schools in my area used to fix things like that for a cheaper rate. It was for learning experiences and they did great work. Not the fastest but far cheaper then professional. The teachers were professionally trained or did if for a living at one time. Might be another option.

Without welding experience, I would do a cab swap.

This was 6:00 am on the interstate in between Tupelo and Memphis. There was almost 0 traffic, and the traffic that was there was going 45 mph max. For clarification, that car was sitting there for about 45 seconds before we shook hands and parted ways.. Just paused for a nice picture's sake.

Thanks for the help guys! Terry, I'll check out the local tech colleges and see what they can offer. I've already got a new door and perhaps an entire truck for parts, so I'll be better able to formulate an actual plan!

Custom Work

This only begins to address the problems. But if someone wanted to have fun with it, cut out the roof for starters. After looking at images on 4xlabs site, I cut out the roof on a parts truck for fun-so cool looking. The pre 77 bronco look!
