hey 22re w/header owners

looking for first hand opinions on headers. were they worth it? i am skeptical after hearing so much praise for 4.88s with 33" tires. I swapped my 4.10s out and the power difference was miniscule. I was tempted to swap back and pocket the cash but then realized that I was getting better fuel economy so I kept them in. Anyways, I am going to be replacing my muffler in the very near future and am considering a header along with a full exhaust replacement.

The header in our 4runner made a noticeable difference. Mainly delaying the inevitable downshift when climbing hills on the freeway or roads where you mainly drive in 3rd or 4th gear. Of course there are hills where a downshift is now no longer necessary

i have had one on my 22re (1990 4runner automatic) and my 20R (1979 pickup 4spd), and in both of them i saw a big difference...the 4runner i saw it off the line while in the 79 i saw the power throughout the rpms...good luck in whatever you chose

When I put the header on my 95 it was a HUGE difference.. the header on my 92 was a decent difference.. but i think since it weights less I dont notice it as much....

I got a doug thorley on my 22re and I like it now that the remflex gasket is installed. With the stock gasket and doug thorley's gaskests, the exhaust was leaking like crazy. a call to remflex and $25 dollars later it sounds and drives great.

I can tell a difference, it pulls better than before. On the downside, it's louder than stock.

I have 2 and i would do it every time i get a new one.
you get better response if you do more to your intake also.

For the LCE header there is a third a party TCR is a rep for LCE.
