Help me diagnose this issue

I'm completely baffled as to what is causing this, but I'm sure it's not the first time it's happened. I purchased a 99 Tacoma with 78K miles, now it's got 104K miles. It's a V6 3.4L engine 4WD. Here's the problem, when I'm coming to a stop, regardless of whether I come to a quick or slow stop, as soon as I let off the brake pedal, it feels like the back of the truck is dropping down. I also notice that the manual gear shift moves at the same time as this "drop" feeling. I don't think the back end is really dropping asmuch as something is releasing. I've put 26K miles on it with this issue and no problems, but would like to get it fixed. Any ideas ?

Thanks!

My moms Tacoma does that. She took it to the dealership and they told her that it was normal. She tried to tell me what they told her it was but she is almost 60 and not much of a mechanic so none of it was very clear. From what I could tell it had something to do with the rear suspension?? Like I said it was a confusing conversation with her.

Hard to call on this but if the front springs/shocks are getting tired on a brake application .

The front would nose down lifting the rear a small amout but it would feel like the rear of the truck would be settling down when the brakes are released.

Do you ever haul alot of weight in the truck.

You say it looks like the shifter also moves at the same time how much??

Rear spring bushings or the rear shocks or bushings being shot could also cause this.

Transmission mount also just get under the truck and start looking

I have a 2000 Tacoma I never noticed this but all my rear suspension has been replaced.

Search for threads on slip yokes. Sounds like yours could use some grease. But alot of people warn about over greasing.
