Good mechanic in Colorado Springs?

I just picked up a 1995 4Runner V6 with 154,000 miles on it. I take it to the dealership to have it looked over because It sounds like a valve is ticking. The dealership is telling me it is rod knock but I'd like to get a second opinion.

I live in Colorado Springs and would like to find a good toyota mechanic out here. Thanks in advance.

Know several up here in Denver.

COTTORA has many members in Colorado Springs that could listen to it for ya.

ALL 3.0's have valve/injector noise, but there isn't much confusing that with rod knock! Can you post up some audio of it?

I've heard Airport Automotive is good. I haven't had him do any work for me, but he is a nice guy who specializes in Toyotas and only uses Toyota/OEM parts. He's on Platte just East of Powers.

IRBIS OFF ROAD-in Aurora- so quite a bit north of the Springs but worth it.

I trust them with my ride and in turn with my life. The shop rate is most reasonable.

TOY CAR CARE-in Centennial-still north and just a few miles less than going to IRBIS

Honest and reliable master techs. Not cheap but worth every penny for the detail they will give.

He is real good...Gary has done work on both the 4Runner and Land Cruiser. I would highly recommend him.

I took my 4Runner to Gary and he diagnosed the sound as coming from the valves/lifters. I'm having a valve adjustment done now. I don't understand why the dealership would tell me its rod knock. I'm confused, either they wanted to rip me off, don't know what their doing, or wanted to sell me a new car.

BTW Gary asked who referred me to him. If you want to PM me your names I'll let him know.

Sorry to resurrect a thread going on four years old, but....

I'm looking for a mechanic I can trust to work on my T100 in Colorado Springs. Is everyone still happy with Airport Automotive? If not, any other recommendations? Thank you greatly.
