Getting rid of dog smell?

I recently picked up and installed some SR5 bucket seats in my truck. They are in mint condition but I can now tell the previous owner had a dog. They have a very very faint kanine aroma. Not enough to bother me significantly, and you get used to it after about 2 seconds, but I want the smell gone if at all possible. Any recommendations? I had them cleaned with compressed air by my brother, I vacuumed the crap outta them, and I used this shampoo in a bottle and scrubbed them as well as used a steamer on them (but not a true steam cleaner, I have one of those steamer cleaner things that you use to clean around the house that has a flat attachment and I steamed the seats with them and then shop vacced some of the water out).
Should I hit them with another hit of the shampoo? Or any thoughts?
OH and these are cloth seats, not leather or anything.

Okay so I highly reccomend a machine called the "Little Green" and it's claening solution, you can buy this at Home Depot and Wal-Mart. This thing is awesome, and I'm talking from experience. I do a detail business in the summer time and trust me this will do it; it will cost you like 120.00 but it's worth it!!! But it's a vaccumn as well as a cleaner, I mean when you are using this thing you can see the dirt being lifted out of the fabric and into the waste container and it smells good too, you may think it's clean but I'm tellin you use this and you'll never go back to the normal cleaning products offered at auto stores that you use with a vaccumn and damp rag. But Good Luck

There is products made for carpets that you sprinkle on then vacuum off about 30 mins later.
I use it on my rugs, and it works very well. I can't see why it wouldn't work in the truck.

Is this a "wet dog" or urine type smell? The cause of the smell may be originating from within the seat foam padding, not the fabric seat covers. I've seen products at Petsmart that's used to eliminate urine odors and other pet smells from carpets. It may work on your seats, but you might have to remove the foam cushions from the seats to apply this product. A temporary solution maybe to spray the seat covers with Fabreze to cover the smell.

I have one of these, works awesome! The powder is also a good thing to try the pet odur powder. Or even Febreeze would likely take it out.

I use my bissell carpet clenaer with wand attachment (the first gen of this)

does a killer job on the seats and floor carpet.

If your looking for a quick fix febreeze is surpriseingly effective. When i got my 4runner it was HEAVLY smoked in. Over the first month (while i was wrenching on it getting it running) i cleaned the carpets/seats no less than about 3 times and febreezed it after each cleaning. Cant tell it was ever smoked in now!

I'd try Febreeze and letting them air out as much as possible. But if that doesn't do the trick go to your local Food Lion or grocery store and see if they rent steam powered professional vacums and carpet cleaning machines and use that.

If it's the seat fabric, Febreeze the hell out of it every other day for a week of so until it's gone. If it's the cushion, good luck.

You can also do something that overtakes any smell in anything.
Start smoking in the truck. Mmmm...

A good detail shop can fix that for you. The one at the Honda dealership I work for does an excellent job.

i second the Febreze suggestion. also try keeping a big can or Ozium aerosol in the truck and fillin' 'er up everytime you leave it parked for the night. i have two dogs and the rig rarely sees a good interior cleanup and --between the febreze and ozium -- it seems to keep the doggy smell in check. relatively, of course.

ps: new pup, scofco?

febreeze. get two bottles, with the first one, take the spray cap off and put your thumb over the hole and pour/sprinkle the seats LIBERALLY with the whole bottle to get the liquid to soak down into the foam. from there, spray the heck outta the fabric and then let it sit overnight. that should take care of the smell.

also, resolve makes a carpet cleaner solution for the "steam cleaners" that you can get at a grocery store, walmart, or target that works VERY well w/ odors and stains.

Alright guys, I have already bought one bottle of febreeze auto which I doused both seats in the other night (well, sprayed, both seats, entirely). The next day it seemed to be a lot better, didn't notice any dog smell. But time will tell if it worked. Otherwise I'll probably just get a professional steam cleaning/shampoo done or something like that. I heard from my brother that there is supposedly some machine you can get put in your truck and they let it sit overnight and it's ozone or something like that. My brother says he guarantees that will get rid of all smells in the truck. Supposed to cost like $60-75 though but if it makes it smell new and it works I probably won't complain. BUt for now I"ll see if the $5 solution works out fine.

Toss a skunk in there.
You'll never notice dog smell again.

Yes, there is a "Little Green" solution it's like 15 bucks for a gallon jug at the home depot. Plus it don't smell funkie flower smell that covers it up it's a good clean smell that works.
