alrighty I am getting a front axle ready for a sas and am ging to regear the elocker to 529 since i want to run 35,s eventually, thats the issue i currently have 31,s how bad will it be on the freeway with the 529,s and 31" tires?? It may be a while till i get the 35s but i dont want to have to pull it apart to regear later. what do you all think???

 

It'll be fine. Much better than re-gearing later. My buddy ran 5.29's and 32's for a while, and it really wasn't that big of a deal.

 

thats good to know.. who was that? dbcfr? i know he had small tires and lower gears when we went to bald mtn.

 

No, Dbcfr was running 4.88's with 31's. My buddy Matt has the other truck. He ran the 32's for a while until he got some new 35's.

You'll probably top out at 85. But, you'll have all the power you could ever want. Probably have to go 60 on the highway to get decent mileage.

i have 5.29s and 35s and am at 3800 going 65 so youll be slower, but from someone who did re gear its not worth it to do it twice plan for your endgame build and buy the parts once

 

I regeared to 4.88s and I am still on my old 31s for now... I can tell you that I am turning about 3k rpms to read 60 on my speedo, which is really more like 54. So you go freeway speeds you have to turn high 3800 rpms and mileage really suffers. So you can get pretty great mileage if you're willing to be in the slow lane and go like 55, or you can get really terrible mileage and keep up with traffic. The upside is that you can pull 5th gear up hills no problem. After driving 4.88s on 31s I would not recommend 5.29s being installed until you get your tires unless you see very little freeway. Especially if you have to get on the freeway in the morning before the engine is fully warm, because you're going to murder your motor if you try and turn almost 4k cold.
