So the guy that had my rig before me did a SR5 dash swap. In lione with how he did all the work on the truck, it was not done correctly. So, now my oil pressure gauge and my Temp gauge do not work.

I am in the process of putting a new motor in and I want to be able to monitor my engine well. I want to know temps and pressures and such.

Would you guys suggest repairing the stock SR5 gauge, or since he didn't change the sending unit out when he did the swap, is the stock gauge even repairable?

I am thinking I want to do aftermarket gauges , so.. any suggestions??

The stock gauges really are somewhat useless besides showing a complete loss of oil pressure. Aftermarket is really the way to go. i have oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature.

 

Do you mind telling me where you put the sensors for each of these? I was thinking about getting the same three gauges.

 

I haven't put them in my truck yet. i have them in my e36 bmw though. The oil temp/pressure is in a machined part on the oil distribution block and water temp is in a tapped hole in the head.

Haven't bought gauges for the truck yet, I'll do it when my 22R blows up and I swap something in it. Probably a 3RZ

 

Well, I ordered A volt gauge, A Water temp and a Oil Pressure from GlowShift. Along with adapters for the oil, and the water temp. I am stoked

 

I always run a mechanical gauge for oil pressure .

to many sending unit failures over the years

 

From what I've read remote mounting the pressure sender helps save them.
