Fun times.. proven bullet proof once again

So I had been talking about doing a long travel suspension kit on the truck. Mostly for clearance issues and the style if we cut to the chase when trail riding. But again I am proven wrong at how strong the stock suspension is on these little trucks. So for back round, I have a 1990 sr5 ext cab v6. Manual everything. 100% STOCK minus the tires and wheels I put on to go trail riding.

Needless to say, we were on a trail over in Croom in Central FL area. Nothing crazy, but made it through the clay pit, minor mud holes, etc all in 2wd, being it is a 2wd truck it was my only option :p

Now to the impressive part. My Dad had always told me stories of him jumping everything he could in his 86 yota with the sport suspension and claimed these trucks could do anything as long as the driver can maintain control of the vehicle. So I decided to test it by taking it out to Croom. Now I have never jumped anything in this truck; until now.

I had never heard of the incline I hit until after I hit it. You are on level ground on a straight away and mid way down there is a hump and is hard to see(we trail ride at night), just looks like a small hump but has a decline on the other end that would kill a car. So cruising at about 30mph i am falling behind, I drop gears and punch it... i saw a truck hit a little bump(being the one that was actually really big) and no big deal so i said eh little bump i might get shaken a little. pushing 45mph i hit this now "ramp". Next thing i know my buddy who is with me is on at the roof, all the loose things in my truck are up in the air... i see the bottom of trees than my rear end hits the bump and launches me forward to where i am looking at the ground. According to the people following me all 4 tires were off the ground at least 3 feet at the same time and the rear was even higher.

Needless to say i landed and after catching myself and making sure we were ok... i pull over, get out and look and everything is in tact from the looks. Start driving, no issues....

Supposedly another guy had hit the jump when i wasn't there, EVERYONE but me knew about it.. go figure. I officially made history with my trail riding group hahaha

So it is my daily driver. And the only issue i have with it right now since that night is my alignment is a bit off camber wise. Had it checked the next morning. And currently getting it fixed when i get the pay check this week.

This truck never stops impressing me!

Just figured everyone would appreciate the story being Toyota fans and always having support on how strong these trucks are even 23 years later!

I did something similar in my '95 Tacoma 2-wheel drive ( the low to the ground version). Jumped a berm on a gas line doing around 50, launched into the air, hit my head on the roof, and then landed. the only damage was I tore the front valance bumper off on landing and I got whiplash... But it sure was fun!!!

I got air in my 4runner, everything was surprisingly okay minus my sloppy steering components but that was from before the jump. tough little yotas that's for sure.

I did it on a washboard section in my t100, I bent one of the frame mounted bumpstops on the drivers side, no other issues.

I am almost tempted to leave it and see how long it takes to break it. Why build it if its not broke and gets the job done eh? Think I might throw the 28" mud tires on and hit it going over 50... I have another daily. Go big or go home hahaha. Sounds stupid and some would disagree. I have my fabtech Lt kit in the garage when it does go on me
