Engine Cleaner (Topical)

Hey I did a search but came up empty for a recommended engine cleaner. You know the kind you use to degrease your engine.

I personally take my truck to the car wash now and again and use the engine cleaner there. I give it a good soaking (with the engine on) and rinse it off without pulling the trigger on the gun. Anyone else?

If I'm not doin that I will break out a can of wd-40 and go to town with an old sock or something. I think WD-40 has to be one of the best inventions ever!

Why a good soaking with the engine running? Just curious.

I use wich ever ones the engine needs to be warm with cause i usually go to the car wash to spray it down.
If you want to eat some paint off oven cleaner works good, its not as strong as it used to be you might could use it instead

I use Gunk Foamy Engine Brite and I just use my garden sprayer and avoid direct spray on the electrical stuff when rinsing.

I usually do it when the engine has cooled off a bit then when it's dry I spray the rubber/black pieces with tire shine stuff to make it all look new again.

You know to be honest my dad told me to always do it a long time ago and I have always done it. I think it may be so that the cold water doesn't cool the block if your engine is really hot- possibly cracking it? I will ask him this weekend lol.

I like the tire dressing idea for the hoses thats a good one.
