Dragracing a 22R* Engine in pickup

I was wondering if anyone besides me was building a pickup with a 22R carb or injected. So far i have build mine up bored 60 over using a LC stroker crank, domed pistons, Crane High energy cam, MSD 6AL2, Hooker comp header, 2 1/2 muffled exhaust(flowmaster), ported, and gasket matched head, was carbed with 2 barrel carb off a 74 chevy, then weber 38; and now I have fuel injected it. Now I've added a big bore throttle body, 100shot, 2 stage wet NOS, polished intake. Oh, and besides the ported of the head it's stock valve train with the common rocker rod; it is very strong and hasn't failed once, and it IS a single chain, ha ha! We got the coolant temp sens tricked, as well as the stock MAF. I use the stock injectors(work very well) except the fuel pump if a high pressure # E2000 from a 91 ford. With all of that on a tuned chassis I run consistant 7.90 on motor in the 1/8, and on juice 6.68. It is not geared specificly for 1/4 mile so cannot give you numbers, but I can say it will do well over 130mph. And 5 gas stations to the mile on VP fuels 103 street blaze fuel, runs fine on 93 octane. Could be drivin daily too

I work with this guy, and he's a good friend of mine. His Toy is VERY NASTY and rips imports and mustangs new ones all day long. It's also fun to see him pop the front wheels off the ground with his 4 banger!

Looks like a good engine buildup. Nice job.

I hope people will realize how fast a 7.90 1/8th mile time is. Most people dont. That is fantastic.

Thanks, now I've change it to efi and and building a progressive fogger nitrous system for it(250 shot). I hope the LC crank holds LOL. Estimate about 400hp 435fpt with the spray. Maybe under sevens? have to wait and see

I know this is an old thread but maybe your still subscribed. How much horsepower would you say you were pulling to get the front wheels off the ground. I'm trying to build a 22r drag truck. I've always wanted to be able to lift the front end up coming off the line.

My 4Runner has run a best of 23.27 @ 57mph before. Lifted, heavy tires, stock gearing and 5800' track elevation didn't help, but it's no powerhouse. Good work on your truck.
