Desirable/strong frame?

Not quite what you're thinking...I've noticed multiple times now on craigslist somebody advertising their later 80's truck as have "the strong frame" or the "very desireable frame" or the "last years of the good frames". I don't know that these people are talking about the issues with the 95-02 frame rot, but maybe they are? Are these people just full of it, or was there some change in the frame in the late 80's? I've been assuming they're full of it...

I would think maybe they are talking a bout the straight axel frames which the last of those was 1985.

All the pre-Tacoma frames were fully boxed sections. Starting with the Tacomas ('95.5 and on), the frames were only the open C-channel from the cab back.

Hmm...thanks but that doesn't mean anything to me!

So is the fully boxed considered stronger?

Yes, the boxed frame is made of 2 c-channels welded together, so is quite a bit stronger.
