Dead starter
After wheeling today I went to the carwash to wash off and opened my hood to spray off the underside of the hood (not the engine itself). after that, i tried to start my truck and all I get is a click click sound from the starter. i got a push start and made it 100 miles back home and its still dead. is it possible that its wet and that caused it to die and itll dry out overnight, or is it most likely completely toast and I need to put in a new one? thanks!

If it doesn't come back to life with drying out, pull it and check the copper solenoid contacts:

Usually that is all that needs to be cleaned or replaced.

i was actually just reading that article. i want to dig into it now since my local pepboys closes in 30 minutes, but i'd better leave it alone for the night and try in the morning before i do work for nothing.

yeah but my problem is it doesnt even start at all even after 20+ tries. could be really bad contacts but thatd be a huge coincidence that it happened after my engine got a little wet
