Couple Q's here about my build
I am currently in the process of building me a nice crawler/camping rig/dd. I bought an 81 toyota, and have since blown the engine and put in an 83. I had a few probs with that, but I got em all sorted out. Now its on to getting everything dialed in, and then my lift. 1st. question: I have my oil pump off to replace the o ring, all tolerances are within spec, but should I put a new one in anyways? I can get it for 50 bucks. 2nd question: I am doing chevy springs next wee. I have an 81, so triangle shock set-up. I am going to be doing a double shackle, bolting my shackle to chevy shackle. I have been told that these springs are soft, and I see a couple driving around town and they LLLLEEAAANNNNN!!! I found some 9 way adjustable shocks for a decent price. Im thinking I could get adjustable for the back, and just some normal soft ones for front, to save money. I assume from what I know of physics, and its not much, that a stiffer shock, and the angle it is at, will not allow the body to tilt as much. I have never seen anything about this in the chevy swap faqs, and guys around town dont do it. I could then have a nice road ride, and when its time to go slow, soften them up? Does it sound good to you. 3rd question: I am going to be getting a header, should I go with a weber 38 also? Will I really notice that much of a difference? Not worried about smog, as I passed emissions, and I have a 2 year free for all . Thanks guys
