Question Chaing interior color

Hi i have a 1986 pickup but it has the original brown interior. The problem is it is getting tore up and im changing the color of the truck itself to black white but im not sure how to do the interior(as in the plastic parts). I was just wondering is anybody knows the right way to paint plastic because I have had friends tell me that if you paint the dash after a while in the sun it will get messed up or that some aerosal spray paint will actually melt the plastic away.

I have painted the plastic pieces in each of my projects. You have to use interior paint. The most important thing to do is get it clean. I use Simple Green and make sure it is rinsed really well. I get my interior paint from Oriellys but any parts store that mixes paint can mix it for you. They have off the shelf interior paint, but I like to take a sample pice for them to use.

Stacey David on Gearz used interior paint on Ted Nugents Bronco. You could probably find an episode he did and get some ideas. My 88 Runner still has the new look on the dash and sits int he sun.

Starting on Post #384 and down is some more information. Link>>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...9/index16.html
