ok i have a TINY hole in my brake line near the rear drum of the drivers side line. theres a shop here that will bend me a new line to replace it for about $45. can i just patch it with something? dont wanna pull the line, get it replaced then bleed the entire system over a super small hole. its small but leaks a good amount of fluid

 

Don`t try and patch it, pay the 45 dollars and get a new brake line. Its not worth playing with your life or someone else`s when it comes to the brakes.

 

im strongly leaning towards the new line but i need to get a quick fix for the week cuz i dont have time to take it off until the weekend. i drive about 30 miles everyday to school and back and with this leak it leaks less than half of the resivoir but the brakes feel good, they arnt messed up or anything just leaks some fluid from the tiny hole, its hardly visible

 

ok nevermind, i got some time off tomorrow that ill hope to take it out. any tips on bleeding? do i have to bleed each wheel or should iuse one of those one man bleeder things

You can buy pieces of brake line with the fittings on them for like $5 at your local autoparts store ... put it up next to your current one, bend the new one to match with your fingers, and reinstall.

No reason to pay someone to do such a simple fix IMHO

You can also order it from Toyota for around $15. No reason to spend that much.

I would get the one from Toyota and be done with it. That bending stuff with your fingers is going to lead to a kinked line if you have never done it before.

 

Well, you can get one of those cheapie bender things (it's what I use), but I was trying to exaggerate the cost savings!

 

I buy my brake lines from the local dealership, for the price its not worth trying to bend them my self.

 

X2...that's what I do too. Not so much because I don't want to bend it but because of the fittings and they are cheap.

Always start bleeding with the wheel farthest from the MC and work your way to the closest. Don't forget the proportional valve if you have one.
