Buying rims online vs in store

Buying rims online vs in store
I am ready to buy some steelies, but am not sure if I should buy them online or at my local tire shop. They are like 10$ cheaper per rim online, but then I have to wait for them to ship, pay for shipping(if they don't offer free shipping), and I have to take them to a shop that wanted to sell them to me to mount them.
The price is easy to compare, but its the customer service that is my concern. I have a lot of experience in motorcycle parts, and I know first hand that when I tried to save 15 bucks buying some motorcycle tires online, my local shop really frowned upon me when I wanted them to mount them. I also like the idea of supporting local business.
So my question is, how many of you pay more at the local shop rather than buy online?

wait wait.. you get a shop to put on your dirt bike tires? you know they don't use a machine, right? they put them on the exact same way you put 'em on on the trail when you pop a tube - on their knees with a bunch of tire irons
save the money and do it yourself!

I wanted steelies because I want black rims, but am not happy with the way that the paint turned out. I could get them powder coated, but what if i get rock rash?, plus I can't take the truck out of commission to get them done. What I REALLY want is some pro comp 1069 blacks or mojave teflons, but its out of my budget.
Maybe I will just find some wheels to borrow while I get mine powder coated.

I went to the local tire place, and it went worse than expected. I waited for about an hour while the two bozos there helped some other people, without even acknowledging me, then when I told them what rims I wanted they told me they couln't get prices until tomorrow. They took my number down, but never called me back. I called to check in three days later, but no luck. The guy who answered once again said they would have to call me back, but never did.
The funniest part was, while we were looking for the rims, bozo #1 was griping about how "we are hurting to sell rims, construction is slowing, and no one is buying any rims any more"
