I've never thought the 2nd gen plates looked all that strong, but neither are the 3rd gen ones, one good time through Tellico and mine were trash, hopefully these will hold up ALOT better. Andy and I will let you guys know in a month.

I got buried in some sticky goopy mud. When I got pulled out backwards, the rear plate ripped off of the bolts and pretty much bent cleanly in half. I had to pull the plate for the rest of the run - which was another 6 hours or so.

I find it hard to think about Bud's plates doing that... wait until you see 'em.

I will order mine today! I have been checking these things out for months so this is perfect. Put me down for a front skid w/oil drain hole and belly skid for a 97 runner.
Thanks Andy for setting this up!

I think that's what happened to mine - I had to do several back/forth trips to get out of one mud puddle. I think the reason I finally got out is because it got bent out of the way enough.

No, this would not be a problem with Bud's plates - not only because of the steel thickness, but the much better design with the rear "ramp"

He told me he hopes his wife doesn't find out about the discount.

I think he's more than made up the difference with the volume.

yeah, volume is the key to this.

the quick and dirty math is that it's $6700 worth of steel for $5360!

OOO! I think I mentioned this at the top of the thread, but 8 pages in, it's worthy to do again...

If you happen to be running a crossover pipe that goes UNDER your tranny (like, after installing headers) then know that you will have to do some work on the plate when you get it.

The bend in the back is too steep to fit under the pipe and still let the rear bolts grab, so you'll have to flatten it out some. The process is easy, just flip the plate with the peak of the bend facing up and drive over it slowly with your your truck.

Yeah, a Yankee Farmer trick for sure. Not all rednecks live in the south, ya'll know...

Thanks to all! No, I never had a clue that we would have 30 items ordered! I have offered many times to do group buys but have never gotten even 5!
Thanks for the kind words and support.

Just an update on the Taco/4Runner skids. They will each come with an extra bracket that attaches to the rear of the steering rack and offers 2 more mounting holes. This is especially helpful for those that have stripped holes in the factory mouning points. And yes, you can use all 4 lower mounting points. The bend is a bit further back behind the rack for more protection and clearance there too.

Thanks again to all. We are processing cards today and starting shipping parts today too. May take a bit longer to get them all out than I had hoped due to volume but will ship in order we received them.

As always, feel free to call or email with any questions you may have during install.
Thanks!
Bud

That's funny. But, say you are designing your custom crossover after you bought your BudBuilt skid plate and crossmember/skidplate . . . . is there a crossover configuration that works better than the under tranny routing? If anyone has done this and has pictures I'd love to hear about it! I need some ideas quick. Hmmmm.

Thanks again Bud!!
