Braking Power?
So this is a question for all the earily solid axle guys.
How good are the factory solid axle front discs and rear drums at stopping a truck with 35-36" rubber? I can't imagine it being great but is it liveable.
I'm wondering if I should upgrade to V6 IFS calipers and FJ-60 Rotors now (I'm going to do pads and rotors but I'm not sure what my calipers are like) or are the stock brakes enough.
If I do upgrade the calipers I will be using a large master cylinder too.

Yes, you should upgrade now.
Alot of cars with 4 wheel discs are using the same sized rear brakes as SFA toyotas had on the front. Whch roughly means they won't cut it, especially with 36" tires.
The rotors and pads are the same cost, just find yourself a set of calipers and a bigger MC and you're set. You don't NEED the 1" V6 MC, the 13/16" 4cyl will do quite nicley, especially if you still have the smaller drums in the back.

I'd upgrade the front to the V6/ FJ discs and then do the rear as well.

I don't have 36's, but I stop no problem with my 35's. Wouldn't even think twice about upgrading to 37's and still stopping with confidence.
I had already upgraded the front with the V6/ FJ discs when I did my SAS.

I'm not ready to do the rear discs yet. I want to put an IFS rear out back with FROR's Full Floater kit, that's gonna be a while.
The front should hopefully improve it a lot, I don't daily the truck so.
As for the MC, I'm getting it used for a song so, why not?

Front will need wheel spacers to fit the calipers, at least 1.5 inches, in addition to the loaded V6 calipers and vented rotors.
Since the front is the majority of your braking. . . upgrade.
FROR full floater rocks as now the brake parts are all interchangeable if need be, along with all the other stuff.
I got all the parts too.
