The way I've handled that situation is to fly to the other location with a certified cashiers check for the full amount, conduct all the paperwork then and there, and then drive it home.

overnight them a money order, two copies of a bill of sale for them to sign (one for you and one for them), a disposable camera, along w/ an empty overnight envelope w/ the postage already paid. they receive the package, deposit the money order, sign the title & one copy of the bill of sale, take 20 or so pics of the exterior of the vehicle and the remaining of the interior to prove the condition at the time of sale, and overnight them all back to you along with any extra keys, etc, in the provided envelope. they keep one set of keys to give to the transport and put the maintenance records, etc in the glove box.

you develop the pics when you receive the package as proof of the condition of the vehicle. you also then arrange for a transport to pick up the vehicle and pay for the transport including insurance w/ your CC. vehicle arrives, you inspect it and immediately notify the driver if it has any unexpected damage, using the pics as proof of condition when he picked it up, and then you go to the local DMV and register it.
