Ball Joint Spacers & Tie Rod Angles
G'day,
I was just wondering what are peoples experience with ball joint spacers over 1" - say 1.5" or 2" and the effects on tir rod steering angles? Many people i have spoken to have said fitting spacers larger than 1" will create steeper tie rod angles, therefore making them easier they are to bend or break. In australia where i am from most people stick with 1" spacers, but i have seen quite a few guys running 1.5" & 2" spacers on this site - i would just like to here your opinions about the mod and if you had issues with breaking tie rods or have guys gone about making raised J arm which you could both to the inside wheel hubs....
Also would a 1" diff drop and sway bar drop be enough to compensate with a 1.5" or 2" BJ spacers or is are 1.5" or 2" spacers required to relieve cv angles?
Also forgot to mention this is in relation to 4runner, with obviously IFS.
Cheers,

I've got 1.5" spacers.
I've relaxed my torsion bars back down, so that my tierods and lower control arms are back to stock. This gives me a nice ride, and i still have the extra 1.5" of droop.
The reason for this is that I would bend or break my steering components on almost every trip. With everything back at stock, things are in good shape.
Now, you can get away with that if you're just doing mild dirt road driving. If you are seriously beating it, as I'm sure you are in Australia, you'll likely have the same problems I did.
