AZ trailer registration

I just bought a pickup that I am going to make into a trailer.

I have a clear title for the truck.

Has anyone had experience registering a homebuilt or truck converted to trailer?

I looked at the DMV website and there was some info, but I am looking for the inside skinny.

yeah my fater-in-law did that he said all you do is take it in for inspection and register it as self built/home built or something like that. Anyways he said it was no trouble. Just make sure it's got all the lights working.

this was in Mohave county, Phoenix may be more difficult, you guys always are. We don't even have to get a smog check here.

Yeah I think it's like that everywhere in AZ except in Phoenix and Tucson Metro areas

I recently registered a trailer in Phoenix that I had made. You take it in for an inspection, tell them where you bought the parts, and that is about it. Very easy, about 45 minutes.

Thanks guys! One person I talked to said I have to make a plackard or something, and make my own vin number like I am a custom builder.

This will be a little build, so keep an eye out. I'll document cradle to grave on the build.

red-runner- you are right about Smog, only Maricopa County and Pima require them. It is all of maricopa county though.

frodin 1- I heard they are a 5 year registration, but I have heard the lifetime thing also. I'll find out.
